I wish I had learned this years ago!

At some point in life, we sometimes stop to ask ourselves what we wished we had learned earlier in life … what might have made a difference? Revolutionary Conversations™ gave me an answer: I wish I had learned the S.H.A.R.E.™ model when I was a teenager. I think it would have changed everything.

I wish I had learned this years ago! It doesn’t take long in our adult life to realize that no matter how much we know if we can’t communicate our thoughts and ideas, we won’t be successful. The beauty of the S.H.A.R.E.™ model is that it helps you make sure that what you want to say is actually heard in a way that opens up a true conversation … one that might prove revolutionary.

The S.H.A.R.E.™ has that elusive “stickability” that most models miss. Once you know the process of Stop-Help-Ask-Risk-Explore, it becomes an almost automatic way of thinking. However, the authors provide compelling examples that make it even easier to know how to use it in dozens of common situations. Do yourself a favor and learn this powerful model today … and maybe even share it with a teenager! That might be the ultimate test of the model.

Effective Tools

I read the book over a weekend and it mainly revolves around the S.H.A.R.E.™ Tools. The acronym stands for Stop-Help-Ask-Risk-Explore. To briefly describe the book, I would say it is about sharing and collaborating in order to meet the desired objectives. In my opinion, the tools presented in the book are not hard to implement as most of us encounter them one way or another in our daily lives. Being aware of these tools and purposely using them as presented in the book makes for an effective solution to a lot of organizational issues, and the big plus is that there is no special training needed to learn them.

Only buy Revolutionary Conversations™ if you are stuck in the rut of feeling misunderstood and lonely. You keep trying to connect with others in the workplace, or even the car wash, and you just can’t seem to be accepted. What’s revolutionary about Revolutionary Conversations™ is the simple protocol used to embrace in conversation with anyone. The technology demonstrated is called S.H.A.R.E.™ which stands for STOP, HELP, ASK, RISK and EXPLORE. Using these simple steps has vastly improved my ability to connect with, and influence, others.

Brilliantly simple, effective, and applicable across all conversations in life

The tools in this book are transformative. On my team, we have utilized the brilliantly simple techniques laid out in the book to impact the speed, effectiveness, and efficiency of our conversations with each other and with our clients. We run a consulting business that focuses on developing strengths-based interdependent teams, and this book has provided a profound reset button when conversations in teams or with individuals get stuck. I have used it with my 2-year-old, students and Executive leadership in organizations very effectively. You can read more on how it has impacted my team in an article I wrote about it here.

Podcast hosts should absolutely read this book!

No matter if you are leading a business team or building a podcast audience, Revolutionary Conversations™ and the S.H.A.R.E.™ Tools helps you communicate with thoughtfulness and ease.

Quote from the book: “The Tools are also compatible with other communication and conversational approaches. They don’t compete. If you’re already a good listener, you’ll become a better listener. If you’re a good conversationalist, you’ll add power and versatility to your existing skills.”

As a podcast host I find this a very important component to your broadcasting success and longevity.

Helpful Review of Business Communications Fundamentals

Revolutionary Conversations ™ introduces readers to the S.H.A.R.E.™ Tools, which are intended to increase the effectiveness of business conversations. The authors draw upon diverse knowledge and expertise; Mark H. Fowler is a business re-engineering specialist, Noal McDonald is a human relations professional and Barbara Gaughen-Muller is a public relations expert and NGO leader. All have many years of experience in their respective fields.

S.H.A.R.E.™ stands for STOP, HELP, ASK, RISK and EXPLORE. By using each of these steps in important conversations, the authors believe that small to medium-sized businesses can benefit their bottom line. As they note, many employees are disengaged from their work, and these individuals can cost companies millions of dollars in lost productivity alone. They assert “Revolutionary Conversations™ can combat this quiet crisis by dramatically changing a business’s landscape, transforming a negative business culture and empowering individuals to work more effectively. “

The book is well structured with a detailed table of contents. After the introduction and an overview of the Tools, the remaining chapters elaborate on each element of S.H.A.R.E.™ Each provides examples to illustrate the concepts and show their application in a business setting. Helpfully, chapters end with a review of key concepts, suggested action steps and questions for the reader to consider.

I thought the concepts were laid out well and easy to understand. I found the book’s examples detailed and realistic, perhaps reflecting the many years the writers have taught the Tools at UCLA and in workshops and used them in client projects. If I have one quibble with the book, it is the three separate prefaces at the start; perhaps the authors could have combined their thoughts and produced one.

Revolutionary Conversations™ is well-written and a thorough review of the fundamentals of good communication in a business setting.

An HR Must Have

I taught graduate school at the University of Southern California in Human Resources and I am an HR practitioner, trainer and executive coach. Pasadena PIHRA’s HR Round table and Book club was reading Revolutionary Conversations™. I invited the authors Marker Fowler and Noal McDonald to the round table discussion. Their S.H.A.R.E.™ tools were an instant success with this group of high-level HR executives, CPA’s, COOs, employment attorneys and organization development professionals. Indeed, the S.H.A.R.E.™ techniques are so profound–yet easy to assimilate–that organizations or people interested in improving their communications skills right away can benefit rapidly. I highly recommend their book as an HR must have. I am using it to help my client’s high potential employees to improve their communications skills. As for the round table members, they are patiently awaiting their Revolutionary Conversations™ workshops.

Learn an effective way to communicate

This book is a must-read for anyone seeking to communicate more effectively. The book is clear, concise, backed up with many examples (so helpful) and the ‘tools’ are easy to put in place right away. My conversations became more open and receptive when I started using these simple techniques. Though this book is geared towards work environments, I applied S.H.A.R.E™ to my personal life and it has been incredibly useful. Great book!

Easy read with valuable “how to’s” on communications

Easy read with valuable “how to’s” on communications in your personal and work environment, especially if you have been reading in this area already. I started using its methods in some stressful situations before I finished the book getting good results.

Read this

My name is Robert and I thought the book was quite helpful. Not necessarily from a business standpoint but from a personal point of view. It made me realize that actual meetings are important and that conversation is an art and not a science. I think any reader who enjoys self-help books will find this to be a good addition to their collection. I read it in a few hours.
